Trust and methodology

Editorial standards

A useful recommendation depends on knowing what is confirmed, what is only claimed, and what is still unknown.

U.S. products and primary sources

We include products presented for sale in the United States. Recommendation-ready records are checked against the manufacturer’s current U.S. product page or documentation. A large discovery record is not treated as a fully researched recommendation.

Three evidence levels

  • Verified for matching: the current manufacturer source answers bike class, battery watt-hours, bike and frame style, minimum and maximum rider height, load capacity, nominal and peak motor power, brake type, and UL 2271 battery status.
  • Source review in progress: the bike has a detailed manufacturer-sourced record and remains in matching, but any missing requirement is shown as “needs verification” and reduces certainty instead of being guessed.
  • Discovery: the manufacturer, model, product link, and basic category are indexed, but the bike is not allowed into questionnaire scoring yet.

Certification language

We distinguish a manufacturer’s certification claim from an independently confirmed listing. A badge that says “Manufacturer reports UL 2849” does not mean ERideMatch independently verified a listing number for that exact model and configuration.

Ranking

Requirements are pass, verify, or conflict. Preferences affect the order only after those outcomes remain visible. Advertising, popularity, and commissions do not override fit or safety requirements.

Updates

Prices, configurations, model names, and product pages change. Every detailed record carries a check date, and links send you back to the source before purchase. See something wrong? Send a correction.
